The article considers the main results of the interaction between Russia and Iran in the 21st century. They analyzed both the economic foundations of cooperation and political ones, taking into account the sanctions policy of Western countries in relation to the two states. It was noted that since the beginning of 2022, relations between the Russian state and the Islamic Republic of Iran have undergone a new wave of intensive interaction. It is summarized that the Russian state and Iran have been allies for a long period, and this is due to similar historical events. It is this factor that contributes to the preservation of the relevance of partnerships and the choice of a new path of development in the conditions of modern world politics.
