Israeli-Palestinian October 2023 conflict attracted the attention of the entire Moslem world, and the media began to dramatize the situation and spread information about the imminent start of the Third World War. While the scientific community is studying causes of the conflict, leaders of almost all countries are calling on Israel and Palestine to lay down their arms. Analysts do not rule out that the conflict will become protracted, as the parties are not ready for negotiations. Political scientists see the reason of the current confrontation not in a struggle for territory, which in previous periods was the main one. Today it is the Hamas’s dissatisfaction with the new alignment of the world that became cause of the conflict. The author outlined the prospects for settlement of the confrontation between the parties and the role of the United States in reconciliation, defined reputational positions of the American political elite in freezing the conflict and the risks of America losing its status of the global political hegemon.
