Nafikov I.Z., Galimov I.I.

Abstract

The article examines the evolution of the migration policy of the Republic of Turkey towards Syrian refugees from the beginning of the Syrian civil war in 2011 to the local government elections in Turkey in 2024. The study attempts to identify the approaches taken by the Turkish government towards Syrian refugees at different stages of the period under study. Attention is primarily paid to the reasons that prompted the Turkish government to modify its migration policy towards Syrian refugees. As a result of the study, the author concludes that as the number of Syrian refugees in the Republic of Turkey increased, the economic and social situation of the country deteriorated, and the anti-Syrian spirit in the Turkish public and the popularity of opposition parties grew, the Turkish government was forced to constantly adjust its approach to the issue of Syrian refugees.
