The Arab states of the Middle East, which for a long time were part of the Ottoman Empire and then under the protectorate of Great Britain and France, gained independence and became independent military-political actors only after the Second World War. The creation of the Jewish state of Israel on the Palestinian land’s dates to the same time. Soon the Arab states and Israel became irreconcilable political, military and ideological opponents. Since the 1960s, the Soviet Union, which had its own geopolitical interests in the region, began to play an active role in supporting the Arab states, including in the military field. Some issues of Soviet specialists’ participation in the establishment and development of the engineering forces of the Arab states are discussed in this article.
