Semyon Bagdasarov’s book “Middle East. Reset” has once again been published at a time when political instability in the Middle East has become even more intense. The collapse of Syria and the escalation of the military conflict involving Israel are realities of 2025, but at least some of them were predicted by Baghdasarov ten years earlier. The work of the famous Russian political scientist contains several interesting expert opinions concerning the development of the situation in Syria and Iraq, the possible disintegration of Turkey due to the policy of its President R.T. Erdogan, as well as the possible formation of Kurdistan and several other administrative and political autonomies. Written in the style of an essay, Bagdasarov’s work also focuses on the need for greater certainty in Russian policy in the Middle East, the responsible choice of geopolitical partners, and the realization that as the heir to the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, the modern Russian Federation must set itself ambitious goals and be prepared for any development. This can be based on both the historical experience of our country and an honest reflection on the processes taking place in the Middle East.
